Standard Chartered appoints bigwig Paul Skelton as global head of banking
Skelton will start his role in December, reporting to Simon Cooper, chief executive of corporate and institutional banking, and will be based inSingapore.
In his newly created position, Skelton will be responsible for Standard Chartereds large corporate and financial institution client relationships.
Cooper said: We are organising ourselves around our clients, putting them front and centre of everything we do. This is reflected in our coverage model. Paul will align and strengthen our coverage teams across international corporates and financial institutions, directing our resources to deliver the banks capabilities for our most important clients and, at the same time, making us easier to deal with.
StanChart described Skelton as a 30-year banking veteran with extensive experience dealing with corporate and institutional clients inEurope, the Middle East and Asia Pacific.
He joins Standard Chartered from HSBC where he was most recently regional head of commercial banking for the bank`s Asia Pacificbusiness.
In a 28-year career with HSBC, he has held a number of senior wholesale banking roles, including regional head of commercial banking Middle East and North Africa, regional head of global banking Middle East andNorth Africa and deputy head of global banking Asia Pacific.
